Re: DISC Mission Grant Program:
For the several years, our organization has provided grants to organizations that serve in a variety of ministries that possibly do not have financial resources that many of our local Dioceses or Parishes enjoy. Since the grant program has been put into place, several agencies, Diocesan offices, Catholic Charities and Mission organizations have been approved for small grant funding. Some of the past years recipients of these funds are as follows:
- Catholic Charities of Sioux City, Iowa to support study and research for therapists
- Catholic Community Services, Salt Lake City, Utah to support a food pantry program
- Sisters of St. Joseph, Erie Pennsylvania to support a garden project in area neighborhoods
- La Sagrada Parish of Sabana Yegua, Dominica Republic towards cost sharing of a generator.
- The Berakhah House, Diocese of Sioux Falls, South Dakota to help to subsidize the food budget for residents and those still living in their apartments.
- Morgan County United Ministries, Diocese of Steubenville, Ohio funds from DISC to provide “Blankets of Care” to the homeless.
The DISC membership continues to benefit from profits through a partnership with Insight and a percentage of the funds are designated for these grants. We, as members, have been given the opportunity to model our faith in the form of stewardship to those that are in need of financial assistance. This is a demonstration of our faith that we are all one, working to carry out the work of the church.
We encourage you to submit any Mission or Catholic organization in the National or International community that you feel would benefit from this grant. A simple application to be filled out with the description of the program or ministry for consideration can be requested by calling or emailing me using the contact information found below. The proposed grantee needs to be submitted through a DISC member and all applications need to be submitted by April 30, 2010.
