DISC March 2015 Newsletter

In 3 1/2 months we will be gathering in the Diocese of Alexandria for DISC 2015. An update on what is being planned is below!

Hopefully you have had a chance to renew your DISC membership for 2015. If not, please take a minute and renew your membership today!

Finally, we encourage you to vote on the Bylaw Amendment change. Online voting will close at 4 pm (ET) on March 12, 2015.

Bylaw Amendment Change

Voting for the Bylaw Amendment Change has opened. All members are encouraged to vote on this amendment change.

A Voting Member of DISC is defined in Article II, Membership – Section 2: Dues as “each active member (arch)diocese of DISC shall pay annual membership dues during the first quarter of each calendar year” and Section 4L Voting.. “Each (arch)diocese appoints a diocesan delegate as the voting member.”

If your (arch)diocese has not yet paid your DISC dues, please visit the DISC website to complete/renew your membership. Votes cast by non-dues paying (arch)dioceses will be considered null and void.

Voting will be closed at 4 pm (ET) on March 12, 2015. To cast your vote, click here.

Hotel Registration

The Best Western of Alexandria Inn & Suites & Conference Center is the official hotel of DISC 2015 and the only location offering discounted rates for attendees. The discounted rate is available from Sunday, June 14, through checkout on Saturday, June 20.

Room Rates

King Room: $75/night plus tax
Double Queen: $80/night plus tax
Suite: $99/night plus tax

May 30 is the final day for the DISC discount at the Best Western of Alexandria.

Explore Alexandria

Plan on arriving a day or two before the conference or stay a day or two after the conference to explore what Alexandria and the area around it have to offer. Bishop Pates Mission Grant Applications Now Available

For several years our organization has provided grants to organizations that serve in a variety of ministries that possibly do not have financial resources that many of our local Dioceses or Parishes enjoy. Since the grant program has been put into place, several agencies, Diocesan offices, Catholic Charities and Mission organizations have been approved for small grant funding.

We encourage you to submit any Mission or Catholic organization in the National or International community that you feel would benefit from this grant. The proposed grantee needs to be submitted through a DISC member and all applications need to be submitted by April 30, 2015.
