Hello to everyone from the Archdiocese of Toronto! We are looking forward to hosting the next DISC Conference in our wonderful city from June 8 – 10, 2010, and would herewith like to extend the invitation to all of you to come join us!
The conference will be held at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel, located in the heart of our city, only walking distance away from many of our world class attractions, and right beside the subway system. Toronto is one of the safest, cleanest and easy-to-get-around cities in North America.
We strive to provide you with a memorable experience for both: a truly inspiring, well-organized and worthwhile conference supporting you in your ministry within your diocese, as well as an enjoyable get-away for you and your families.
Not only is Toronto Canada’s largest metropolis and finance centre, it is also a melting pot for cultures from allover the world, and offers a multitude of colorful attractions and one-of-a-kind entertainment opportunities for every age, every interest, and every taste.
We are happy to say that while you are here, you will be able to enjoy one of the many Arts festivals Toronto can boast of, Luminato, a creative display of contemporary art and lights throughout the city. Our world class Royal Ontario Museum as well as our prized Art Gallery have just inaugurated their spectacular new building additions, must-see sights in their own right. The most famous attraction, the CN Tower, at one point the tallest, free-standing structure in the world with its observation deck at a lofty 1,500 feet, will stun you with panoramic views across the city and Lake Ontario, and maybe send chills down your spine as you dare to walk across its glass floor. Harbourfront, dotted with many pleasure crafts, outdoor performing arts stages and board walks will surely set you in a vacation state of mind, as will the nearby Toronto Islands with their extensive parklands, walking trails, bike paths (rent a bike!) and family entertainment village with lots of rides, splash pad and petting zoo. And if you looking forward to some new culinary experiences, you can literally go on a world tour just by walking along any of our city streets. Restaurants offer the broadest range you can possibly find, from traditional and nouveau Canadian cuisine, to French, Thai, Indian, Russian, Japanese, Mexican, … just to name a few, not to forget North-America’s second largest Chinatown with its multitude of eateries and outdoor markets. We are currently trying to decide which sights we’ll showcase during the outing. The rest is up to you to explore.
And why not stay for a family vacation? An excursion to nearby Niagara Falls is ideally compliments your Toronto experience, and we are more than happy to help you with information about the Muskoka Lakes Region, one of Canada’s prime vacation areas just outside of Toronto. Cottages of all kinds can be rented, fishing lodges as well as world class golf courses are at your finger tips, and many top-of-the-line vacation resorts offer fantastic opportunities to extend your stay.
The only things you need now are your ticket and your passport. We are truly looking forward to welcoming you and your loved ones in 2010!
