Bishop Michael Driscoll was born and raised in California. In 1961 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s Seminary College in Camarillo, California. He received his Bachelor of Sacred Theology from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1965. Bishop Driscoll was ordained on May 1st 1965 at St. Vibiana’s Cathedral, Los Angeles, California. Additionally, he received his Masters of Social Work in 1975 from the University of Southern California. Bishop Driscoll was ordained an auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Orange in 1990. On January 19th, 1999 He was appointed Bishop of Boise and installed as the Seventh Bishop of Boise in March of that year.
Bishop Driscoll is currently serving as the Episcopal Liaison for Catholic Charities USA, President of Catholic Charities of Idaho, Board Member for the National Catholic Partnership on Disability, Board Member for the USCCB Campaign for Human Development and Board Member for the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
